"Smoky Mountain Heritage"

2024 Christmas Ornament

The Gateway to the Smokies was originally built in 1932, a year before the park opened. It proudly welcomed visitors to Waynesville and to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In disrepair, it was taken down in 1972. It has been given back to the Town of Waynesville by the Downtown Waynesville Association. DWA designed and raised the money for the arch to be returned. It welcomes visitors again. Teresa Pennington, Chair of the Executive Board, helped to bring it back to Main Street in June 2024. Santa has joined in the arch celebration, trading in the traditional sleigh and reindeer for a pickup truck.

The ornaments are signed, numbered and limited edition.

$36.00
